The Governing Council of the Community of Madrid has given the green light to the Decree that establishes the region's work calendar for the year 2025. This will include 12 holidays, of which two will be local and must be set by the different municipalities of the community, as stipulated in the Workers' Statute.
The Decree will be sent to the State before September 30, including the 12 established dates, to which will be added the festivities that each municipality in the region determines.
Public holidays in the Community of Madrid for the year 2025:
Wednesday, January 1: New Year.
Monday, January 6: Epiphany of the Lord.
Thursday, April 17: Holy Thursday.
Friday, April 18: Good Friday.
Thursday, May 1: Labor Day.
Friday, May 2: Community of Madrid Festival.
Friday, July 25: Saint James the Apostle.
Friday, August 15: Assumption of the Virgin.
Saturday, November 1: All Saints' Day.
Saturday, December 6: Spanish Constitution Day.
Monday, December 8: Immaculate Conception.

The working calendar not only sets out days of rest, but also reflects a mix of religious, cultural and national traditions that form part of a region’s identity. These holidays allow people to disconnect from their daily responsibilities and connect with their community and roots, whether through family, religious or social celebrations. In addition, the inclusion of local holidays gives municipalities the opportunity to highlight their own cultural heritage. It is a reminder that free time is also essential for individual and collective well-being.
